I am going to share a few tips and outfit suggestions we give our mid to plus-size clients during their pre shoot consultation (which is included when you book a shoot with us!).

Even those who have insecurities surrounding their midsection or where their body carries the most weight can benefit from these tips!

Tip #1: You do not have to hide your body!

First let’s address a common pain point for women — the tummy. If this area is a trouble zone that you’d rather not highlight in your photos there are options! High-waisted panties and high-quality onesies like teddies and bodysuits will flatter your figure better than your typical budget bra and panty set. Plus, since it conceals your tummy area these types of outfits can also help you feel more comfortable in front of the camera. Underarms and cellulite? Try long sleeves in lace, incorporate a robe add stockings to your boudoir outfit! These items will hug your body, accentuate your curves, and smooth out your trouble areas giving you a desired look that will help ease your nerves and empower confidence!

Tip #2 : Remember that numbers do not define you!

Whether it’s the number on a scale or your pants size do not stress it! Focus less on numbers and more on what fits you best! I’ve personally been a 10 to 14, busty woman for most of my adult life and I learned very quickly that the conventional idea of small, medium, large just doesn’t work for me. Don’t waste your time crying over having to size up or worse getting the wrong size just to satisfy your ego. Choosing the wrong size for the sake of avoiding the dreaded size up could ultimately result in being unhappy with how that translates on camera. Size up or down depending on what fits and be careful not to let insecurities and doubts guide your choices If the numbers don’t add up to a perfect body that’s ok. Perfect is not the goal — learning to love yourself just as you are is so much more important than numbers on a scale.

Tip #3: Do not limit yourself to just lingerie.

There are so many alternative options to lingerie that can be just as sexy for a boudoir photoshoot. Sometimes, the non-lingerie outfits turn out to be the favorite! Boudoir outfit ideas that aren’t lingerie include sweaters, jeans/jean shorts, little black dresses, t-shirts, jerseys, something from your significant other’s closet or even just sheets. And by the way, sheets require no sizing at all and can be incredibly flattering for highlighting your curves and downplaying your pain points! Not everyone is all about racy lingerie, garters, and stilettoes. While I fully encourage stepping a little bit outside of your comfort zone and incorporating outfits that challenge you to reveal your more seductive side, I also find it important to stay true to yourself through that process.

For this Scottsdale boudoir session, we chose to layer a grey cardigan over top of her black bra and panty set. In these boudoir photos she wanted to be able to show off her best features, feel incredibly sexy, but also appeal to her every day persona — an easy going, energetic, down to earth, and more of a girl most likely to be spotted in gym clothes, with no make up on kind of babe!

It’s cooling down in Phoenix, everything is suddenly pumpkin spiced, its spooky season, and you’re having quiet conversations with your closet on whether or not it’s time to tuck away the swim suits & flip flops and swap them for flannels & ankle boots.

The Cozy Autumn Sweater

Nothing says its Autumn than a cozy sweater. Consider this the something comfy to your fall boudoir wardrobe. Its comfortable, flirty, and when styled right incredibly sexy!

Quick Tips for How to style It:

Light weight sweaters that are a bit oversized work best. (Not too bulky but still form fitting)

Remember sweaters can get a bit toasty — a light and soft material is ideal. NO WOOL. You can thank me later ;)

Business in the front party in the back sweaters are the BEST for your fall boudoir wardrobe. (think — plunging backs, V backs, or backs that are twisted/knotted)

V neck sweaters are great if you’d like a little cleavage, want to show off your collar bones or have a chest tattoo!

Wear it over the shoulder so that your bra strap peaks through for a more flirty feel.
