There are many misconceptions about boudoir including the idea that a woman must be in the best shape of her life, and fully comfortable and confident with her body before she books her boudoir session. I mean sure, some women do a boudoir session to celebrate feeling the most confident they’ve ever felt and I’m here for that 100 percent! What inspired you to pursue a Scottsdale boudoir session?
I was celebrating my 40th wedding anniversary and 58th birthday in September and wanted to do a little something out of the ordinary.
Why did you choose Bella Jade Boudoir in Scottsdale Arizona for your Boudoir Experience?
I looked online and loved what I saw and what I read about The Bella Jade Collection. After the full experience, I am so grateful that I chose them because they were the best from getting me ready for the shoot and helping me with the shoot itself and the end product was fantastic. I highly recommend them to everyone.
Do you consider yourself a confident person or more of a work in progress? Did this boudoir experience change the way you see yourself?
I am definitely a work in progress. Even though I can be very confident about certain aspects of my life this was definitely one of those areas where I doubt myself and feel self conscious. All of the uplifting emails throughout the process certainly helped to put me at ease and Christina was very upbeat and a fantastic coach helping me pose, etc.
Did you have any fears going into this? Were you able to overcome them?
I was afraid that I would not look very attractive, especially as a woman my age putting myself out there to be photographed. I must say that even at 58 years old the photos turned out spectacular and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
What was your favorite part about your Scottsdale boudoir experience?
I loved the photo shoot with the girls. They made me feel so comfortable and I was sad to see it end and could have stayed there all day. It was like spending the day with your girlfriends and having the best time.
Do you have any advice for someone considering their own boudoir photo shoot?

For boudoir photos that look and feel natural, less is more. A simple teddy or bra and panty set is all you’ll need to create this look. Focus on what fits well, hugs your curves, and feels most comfortable. For this look, subtle textures like lace, and floral work well. Neurals, earthy tones, or pastel colors like baby blue, and blush are ideal.
What To Wear: Comfy Boudoir
If lingerie isn’t really your thing, or you just love the idea of doing a boudoir session in something other than lingerie. This outfit idea feels cozy but also looks super cute, and should definitely be on your list of things to consider! Think over the shoulder sweaters, and t-shirts. You can transform any basic cheeky panties and bra to something cozy and flirty by layering your outfit with a cardigan or robe!
What To Wear: Glamorous Boudoir
Wearing something glamorous can truly elevate the experience. Whether it's a satin slip dress, full lingerie set with garter belt, stockings, and heels or something even more racy like a strappy bodysuit an outfit that makes you feel confident, strong, and sexy can go a long way. Opt for fabrics that flatter your figure and colors that complement your skin tone and overall vibe of your vision. There are a few ways you can achieve this look just remember — This look can be elegant and sophisticated, or seductive and sensual. Its entirely up to you! The first and most common is to wear white, traditional bridal lingerie. Lace robes, silk gowns, anything sheer, even wearing nothing more than your engagement ring are all great choices, too! To elevate this look I recommend bringing in something sentimental, or something that will be a part of your wedding like your “something blue”, your engagement ring, your wedding shoes, veil etc. Another option is to introduce a sexy accessory like a wedding garter!

I am definitely a work in progress, but this experience helped change the way I see myself. I never thought I knew how to be sexy or that I even had it in me to be photographed while trying. I felt not only sexy, but beautiful!

The only fear I had going into this is not really knowing how to use my body to capture the images I was hoping for, but Christina is not only an amazing photographer but also a great coach! She even taught me how to get rid of my RBF for a quick minute!

I don’t have a single favorite part, I loved every single moment! From having a yummy mimosa, getting beautified with Leah, to just having so much fun! The time went by way too fast!

Just do it! I think every woman should do it, and love your body no matter what stage of life you are in.

A powerful expression of self love for a mother in her 40’s rediscovering herself.
These photos were taken using a minimalist approach to boudoir that would focus on honoring her undeniable glow by using nothing more than soft window light. We took inspiration from her natural movements while coaching her through boudoir posing using the sheer curtains. Incorporating the sheer tulle and posing with the curtains was an intentional choice that would help her flow seamlessly through the poses for an effortless look, as well as add a texture and elegance that would elevate the sense of femininity.
The results were nothing shy of breathtaking.

For our clients here at Bella Jade Boudoir we invite them to schedule a pre-shoot consultation with us to better understand just what to expect and get even more tailored guidance on how to get ready for their session with us.
Here are 5 quick tips we share with every boudoir client:
Plan your outfits in advance including trying everything on well before the day of your shoot. If ordering lingerie items online, be sure to give yourself enough time for shipping, as well as possible exchanges/returns.
Treat yourself to a manicure and pedicure. Nails are one of the most overlooked details when it comes to having your photos taken. Since, this is boudoir getting a pedicure is even more noticeable especially if you do not plan on wearing heels in all of your photos. Not only will this freshen up your appearance but it’s a great way to unwind and relax any nerves you may have about doing a shoot like this.
Be mindful of tan lines and clothing lines in your skin. We almost always recommend not getting a spray tan, however it does not hurt to ask if a spray tan is something that you are considering. In some situations having a professional spray tan can be beneficial. Wearing lose fitting clothing the morning of your shoot is ideal for avoiding lines in your skin from bra straps or other tight garments.
Drink plenty of water and be sure to eat a light breakfast the morning of your session. Now is not the time to fast, start a new weigh loss diet etc. Drinking plenty of water will help reduce unwanted bloating while eating a light breakfast will give you the energy you’ll want during your shoot!
Get out of your own head. If doing something like this is outside of your comfort zone getting nervous as you get closer to your shoot is not uncommon. Remind yourself why you are doing this then get out of your own head by giving yourself permission to show up all in and letting go of the idea that you need to look perfect or do it perfectly. Show up for yourself and just have fun with it!

Miss M. contacted our studio looking to do a boudoir photoshoot for herself but was also interested in booking one for her sister & BFF! They’d dreamt of gifting each other a boudoir session as a way to support one another on their self love journey! And, I love that! This BFF session did not disappoint! From mimosas, getting their hair and make up done together, listening to music, cheering each other on, and BONUS getting to add three ladies from our studios to their personal hype girl team — this day was nothing short of incredible!

I always have felt like I come across confident, and there are times when I am. But recently, I have struggled with confidence. Doing this made me feel the most beautiful and sexy that I ever have.
Did you have any fears going into this? Were you able to overcome them?
YES! Doing this was so far out of my comfort zone, I was nervous about pretty much everything. But the staff made me feel so welcome and it was truly great!
What was your favorite part about your Scottsdale boudoir experience?
My favorite part honestly, was getting to hang out with the staff as well as my sister during the photo shoot.

What inspired you to pursue a Scottsdale boudoir session?
To capture the woman I am and remind myself that I am the driver in how I see myself.

Do you consider yourself a confident person or more of a work in progress? Did this boudoir experience change the way you see yourself?
Through all the struggles with my body image, self-confidence/self-worth, emotional stability, giving to all and leaving nothing left for myself, I lost sight of who I am. BUT...I am back with a fierce confidence and amazing self-worth that I lost because I was conforming into somebody's version of me that fit their needs; I may have been smiling but inside I was not. I know I still have room to continue to grow but like in the Pink song, "I am here..."
Did you have any fears going into this? Were you able to overcome them?
None - this experience was exactly what I needed and what I have overcame to get here was captured in the photos.
What was your favorite part about your Scottsdale boudoir experience?
All of it - I felt empowered and worth something.
