Miss M. Shares her Boudoir Photography Experience | Best Boudoir Photographer in Scottsdale Arizona near Phoenix, Mesa, Gilbert AZ
Miss M. contacted our studio looking to do a boudoir photoshoot for herself but was also interested in booking one for her sister & BFF! They’d dreamt of gifting each other a boudoir session as a way to support one another on their self love journey! And, I love that! For her, shed hoped that doing a boudoir shoot would be a confidence boosting experience that shed get to share with her best friend! What better way to celebrate and encourage one another then a Private Boudoir Party! So, of course we quickly got them on the schedule for a Best Friend Boudoir Session at our signature Scottsdale studio, The Grey Room.
This BFF session did not disappoint! From mimosas, getting their hair and make up done together, listening to music, cheering each other on, and BONUS getting to add three ladies from our studios to their personal hype girl team — this day was nothing short of incredible!
Afterwards Miss M. came back for a reveal of her photos and has so graciously allowed us to share a few of them here! She also shares some first hand insight into what the BFF Boudoir Session was like for her and a word of advise for anyone considering their very own boudoir session at Bella Jade Boudoir in Scottsdale, The Bella Jade Collection.

What inspired you to pursue a Scottsdale boudoir session?
My sister and I have talked about it for a while to increase our confidence and body image.

The reviews were great, and I felt like I resonated with her personality based on what I read.
Do you consider yourself a confident person or more of a work in progress? Did this boudoir experience change the way you see yourself?
I always have felt like I come across confident, and there are times when I am. But recently, I have struggled with confidence. Doing this made me feel the most beautiful and sexy that I ever have.
Did you have any fears going into this? Were you able to overcome them?
YES! Doing this was so far out of my comfort zone, I was nervous about pretty much everything. But the staff made me feel so welcome and it was truly great!
What was your favorite part about your Scottsdale boudoir experience?
My favorite part honestly, was getting to hang out with the staff as well as my sister during the photo shoot.
Do you have any advice for someone considering their own boudoir photo shoot?
Just do it. You deserve it.

What inspired you to pursue a Scottsdale boudoir session?
To capture the woman I am and remind myself that I am the driver in how I see myself.

Do you consider yourself a confident person or more of a work in progress? Did this boudoir experience change the way you see yourself?
Through all the struggles with my body image, self-confidence/self-worth, emotional stability, giving to all and leaving nothing left for myself, I lost sight of who I am. BUT...I am back with a fierce confidence and amazing self-worth that I lost because I was conforming into somebody's version of me that fit their needs; I may have been smiling but inside I was not. I know I still have room to continue to grow but like in the Pink song, "I am here..."
Did you have any fears going into this? Were you able to overcome them?
None - this experience was exactly what I needed and what I have overcame to get here was captured in the photos.
What was your favorite part about your Scottsdale boudoir experience?
All of it - I felt empowered and worth something.

What inspired you to pursue a Scottsdale boudoir session?
I've always wanted to do a boudoir session since I'd learned about it. Losing weight and going through a rough break up made the timing right.
Why did you choose Bella Jade Boudoir The Bella Jade Collection for your Scottsdale boudoir experience?
The whole package. I had done some research and wanted to make sure I chose someone who offered everything from hair and makeup, to working with women, to seeing and having my final pictures in print and not just on a flash drive.
Do you consider yourself a confident person or more of a work in progress? Did this boudoir experience change the way you see yourself?
I thought I was sort of confident going in. Once there, my confidence was on edge. I thought I looked good, but I felt my body language didn't.
Then, when I got my pictures back, I cried. I couldn't believe that was me. By the way, they are sooo amazing!

Did you have any fears going into this? Were you able to overcome them?
I had a bit of fear.
I knew I was going to be wearing minimal in front of people I didn't know. The ladies made everything more comfortable.
Only thing I'd do differently is make sure I stretch more for days leading up to it, haha.

All of it. Christina and Leah made me look good and they kept me at ease and laughing.

Miss D. admits she had some inhibitions going into this. She knew that she had wanted to do her very own boudoir photo shoot for a while. As a women in her 60’s in a body that looks different from medias perception of perfection it took a bit of courage to pull the trigger. And, honestly she is not alone in feeling the pressure to meet certain standards before booking a shoot like this. But for her — doing this NOW was the absolute right time!
Listen, there is no pre-requisite to learning to love yourself other than the desire to want to! As far as I am concerned, at Bella Jade, boudoir is about loving who your are in the body that you’re in right now, then
— having those images and re-visiting that feeling every time you look back on your boudoir photos!

I had wanted to do it for a while and although I’m older and at my highest weight ever, I have been working on self love and wanted to see myself through different eyes.

I had researched several boudoir companies. After reading the reviews and seeing Christina’s beautiful personality and love of her work it shine through, it was an easy decision.
Do you consider yourself a confident person or more of a work in progress? Did this boudoir experience change the way you see yourself?
I am definitely a work in progress. It did allow me to see several sides of myself that I usually do not or have not seen before.
Did you have any fears going into this? Were you able to overcome them?
I had several fears going into this experience. Media and the perception of people in todays world have created a negative view of what is the “perfect woman”. I am not perfect.
That was scary for me.
I eventually decided that I am who I am and should go into this with an open mind and just have fun. That made a difference for me.
The only thing I would have done differently would have tried to be more relaxed. Christina is so positive and it was so fun, that being more relaxed would have been a bonus.
What was your favorite part about your Scottsdale boudoir experience?
My favorite part of the boudoir experience was Christina’s energy and positive attitude. We laughed and had a really fun time. It made the experience less stressful and the time went by so fast!
Do you have any advice for someone considering their own boudoir photo shoot?
Just do it! You will not regret it! Allow yourself to have fun, meet and work with Christina who not only does an excellent job as a photographer but has an eye for making you look your best, and do something wonderful for yourself!
Would you recommend The Bella Jade Collection Bella Jade Boudoir to a friend?
Absolutely!!! In the days of self love, this is one of the best things you can do for yourself. I would encourage all women to do this!

“I had a such a great time doing my boudoir photo session! Leah did a great job with my makeup and hair and was a wonderful help with posing. Christina is a ray of sunshine. Her smile lights up the room and if you are nervous her smile and personality will immediately take that away.
I had wanted to do a session for many years but was always waiting for the “right” time. Now as a woman in my 60’s and weighing more than I ever have, having cellulite and stretch marks, it was the perfect time. My confidence has never been high but have always gotten compliments from others. As my worst critic, I didn’t see what others did. I wanted to see the beauty in myself that others saw. Christina was fabulous, helped me with posing, and we laughed when I just did my own thing. She really knows how to make you feel beautiful and how to make the entire session fun. The end results were so stunning and I was in awe of her photography skills.
I definitely would recommend Christina and if you are waiting to do a session I suggest you just go for it!! You will have an awesome time, boost your confidence, and get photos you will treasure for a lifetime!”

What inspired you to pursue a Scottsdale boudoir session?
I had always wanted to do a boudoir shoot. For years I had contemplated it, but never got the courage to actually book it. I had just given birth to my first baby, which had its trials and tribulations in itself, and I just lost over 50 pounds. I was a new mom that hadn't felt pretty in a very long time. I needed to feel confident and comfortable in my own skin again and that is what made me pursue a boudoir session.

I am always a work in progress. Who isn't? But after working with Heidi and Christina, I felt so confident and just proud to be me. Flaws and all. I finally looked at myself in the mirror that day and said to myself, "Damn. You DO got this!" They truly helped me come out of my shell and have some fun!

Did you have any fears going into this? Were you able to overcome them?
I did. I have always been self-conscious about myself and my body, but I wanted to be proud of the hard work I had just put in within the last year with having a baby and losing so much weight. I am so glad I overcame my fear of letting others see me vulnerable. It was such a wonderful liberating experience. I wouldn't have changed a thing!
What was your favorite part about your Scottsdale boudoir experience?
Can I say I loved it all? Cause I did! I just loved being able to feel so comfortable in a normally awkward situation. It was so nice to be pampered, have your makeup done, hair done and just feel beautiful! I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Do it! Don't contemplate it. We are all beautiful and it should be celebrated! You will not regret it!

My 30th birthday was coming up! I knew I had to do it about a month before so I could have my pictures in hand for my birthday and the timing was perfect!! I just really wanted to celebrate myself and everything I’ve accomplished in just 30 years.

What inspired you to pursue a Scottsdale boudoir session?
My first thought was for my husband's 50th birthday. I wanted to give him something he would never forget and something completely out of the usual. After booking and in anticipation of the shoot, I realized I was doing this for me. I have had self-image issues as many of us do, and I wanted to show myself my body is my own and damn sexy. I also wanted to prove to myself I could do something like this. I am so glad I made the move to do this.

Honestly, the ad continued to pop up on my social media pages and each time I looked into it. Then, there was a massive discount and I figured, hey, why not?
Now was my time and this was the place for me.

My answer really depends on what I am doing and who I am with. I am shy when meeting new people, but open up quickly. This experience has helped me be more confident in my own skin and shown me that despite the "flaws" I look great.
Did you have any fears going into this? Were you able to overcome them?
I was definitely nervous going into this and especially the day of.
I had strained my neck a couple of days prior to my shoot and was scared of how that might affect the end result because of the difficulty I had with some of the poses. I really wanted to make this amazing, so I pushed through with the help of Christina and some champagne :) The only thing I would change is the neck strain, otherwise, the rest of the experience was amazing.

What was your favorite part about your Scottsdale boudoir experience?
My favorite part of the experience probably has to be the reveal. Christina does such an amazing job and really makes this a special moment.
I also loved how the shoot itself flowed, it went from one thing to the next and truly felt like a whirlwind from beginning to end.

Know your why.
Yes, many of us do this for our significant other, but have a reason to do this for you too. Many of us struggle with self-image, unfortunately, but this is a great way to get out of your comfort zone and prove to yourself you have a smoking hot body and improve the way you see yourself.

I started to second guess myself in the car. I had just gotten news about what was going on with my body and I was asking myself “What am I doing here, I’m a 52 year old woman, I just found out I am in full bloom in menopause, and I questioned what am I doing here?”
I got out of the car and thought, “I’m here, let’s just do this, I don’t have to share the photos if I don’t like them.”
What was your favorite part about your Scottsdale boudoir experience?
Once I walked in and was greeted by Christina and Heidi, I just bursted out what I had just found out and experienced in the car. I started to tear up. They greeted me with open arms and said they were so excited that I showed up.
During the shoot we had a lot of laughs and for once during this building up to doing the shoot, I felt, this is where I am meant to be at this moment in my life.
I felt good about myself as they guided me through the experience.
The reveal is a whole other story. Haha
Do you have any advice for someone considering their own boudoir photo shoot?
Just do it! You may consider, wonder, or question about it, but no matter what, jump all in and take it all in! It will be worth it, it will be just the beginning of you loving “yourself” more than you could ever imagine.

What inspired you to pursue a Scottsdale boudoir session?
I really wanted to capture this version of myself and celebrate all that is me.

I chose Christina because of her vibe. I've seen her video clips on Facebook and Instagram and she seemed so positive and friendly, but sassy. That sassy side captured my attention and I knew there was no one better to go with.

Did you have any fears going into this? Were you able to overcome them?
My biggest fear was feeling uncomfortable and unliked. My experiences with women have always been pretty negative since my late teens and I've always felt like the black sheep in a room full of women. I was worried that I wouldn't connect with Christina, but oh man, she and Leah (the hair and make up artist) blew me away. I literally walked out of my photo shoot wishing they were both my friends in real life.
They both gave me something I haven't really experienced with women in the past. Instead of judgement, they gave me celebration.
I wouldn't change a thing.
What was your favorite part about your Scottsdale boudoir experience?
For me, the best part of the shoot was being celebrated! Second favorite part was getting the chance to be all dolled up and sexy. And the pictures that came as a result of that? Straight FIRE.

Do you have any advice for someone considering their own boudoir photo shoot?
Do it! With none or all of the flaws, do it! Whether you’re 20 or 50, do it. Capture this version of you and be proud of the body you have. Show the world what you are made of and let yourself feel like a queen.

Omg yes this experience has changed how I see myself. Just watching the video got me emotional and teary eyed seeing that all those pictures were me and that I did look beautiful.

“I am my own worst critic and I wanted to do something to help me be more confident and I have never felt so confident like I did during my photo shoot.”
Toward the beginning of every session we like to do a warm up. Which is basically your boudoir photographer showing you a few tricks and coaching you through a series of tried and trusted poses. After 6+ years photographing women from all walks of life and different comfort levels, we know that keeping it simple in the beginning is this is the best way to get you started! And we tell you exactly what to do down to your finger tips. That’s right — you don’t have to know what you are doing. (you can exhale now… ). And here’s the thing … even if the first couple of photos are a total flop I don’t even care. I’m still not worried and you need not to either.
I realize — that even though this whole boudoir thing is not new to me, for most of our boudoir clients this is ALL new to you — every part of it

And if you’re feeling anything like Miss N was prior to booking her shoot and having a consultation with us, you are probably stepping way out of your comfort zone and into the unknown. So its OK to be nervous. We get it!
The warm up gives you a chance to get more comfortable being in front of the camera, taking direction, and finding your own flow! Again, we don’t expect you to come in having it all figured out in less than 60 seconds. Eventually the nerves will fade out and you’ll find your own rhythm. You’d be surprised how quickly you can get passed thinking about flaws and fears when you are having fun!
For Miss N it went a little like this: It was like I blinked, looked down at my camera, then BAM there was this super confident, playful, feeling some type of way Bombshell in front of me barely even through the warm up!
We LOVE that! Permission to brag to all of your friends how bad af you are!

Miss D. came in for her very first boudoir shoot at our Scottsdale boudoir studio barely nervous at all! Believe it or not, at the time she had two 18 month old twins, hustling multiple businesses, was getting married, and planning a move all at the same time! So, I am so glad to see that she was able to carve out some time JUST for herself to enjoy the a day of self care and to celebrate all of her milestones.
When planning her boudoir outfits she knew that she wanted to do something that would leave her feeling sexy and glamourous with lingerie and a classy garter belt (hold the stockings — wait until you see these photos!)
After having her pre photoshoot consultation and seeing ideas on our Instagram she felt inspired and decided it would also be fun to explore her more playful side by bringing in a baseball jersey to wear as well. This is what’s great about this process! Because, seriously they turned out to be some of the sexiest boudoir photos!
And, though Miss D. did not have as many reservations as most do going into their very first boudoir session, she wants other women to know regardless just do it and don’t over think it!

What inspired you to pursue a Scottsdale boudoir session?
Getting married and I wanted to feel sexy and comfortable in my own skin.

I followed her private Facebook group for awhile before I took the plunge.
Do you consider yourself a confident person or more of a work in progress? Did this boudoir experience change the way you see yourself?
More work in progress. I come off as confident to others but deal with my insecurities behind closed doors. This definitely changed my view. I felt so good during and after the shoot!
Did you have any fears going into this? Were you able to overcome them?
I was worried I would pick apart my photos after. I LOVE THEM. I wish I would’ve scheduled an all day shoot!

Christina!!! She poses you and keeps the mood light and fun. Leah glammed me up and I felt so good.

Just because I thought I was pretty or looked good a certain way, doesn't mean I think everyone thinks that of me. What inspired you to pursue a Scottsdale boudoir session?
I went through a huge weight loss and few life events that motivated me to do any and every little thing I have ever wanted to do. All of these events have made me really appreciate my mind and body. And I have always wanted to do a boudoir session so I thought now rather than later is the best time!
Why did you choose Bella Jade Boudoir The Bella Jade Collection for your boudoir experience?
By looking at reviews and her styling, I could tell that Christina was different. She didn't have every girl in the same red lipstick with zhuzhed up hair. Everyone just looked so happy and natural - that was exactly what I wanted.

I had no fears until I literally pulled up. I suddenly felt like I couldn't do this or I would make a fool of myself if I showed the picture to anyone. But then I calmed myself down and just said that I made the appointment and drove here so just do it. Luckily I did because it was the best experience EVER. Everything went great, maybe I wish I looked at a few more outfit ideas because now I am always in awe of other gals' outfits in pictures!
What was your favorite part about your Scottsdale boudoir experience?
Although I loved the whole experience of taking the pictures, the day I was able to come in and see them first-hand was incredible. As I said, I feel like I am confident, but when I got to see the pictures printed out and in front of me, I got teary-eyed because I really did THAT. I really look like THAT. It was a beautiful moment for me and I really needed that.
Do you have any advice for someone considering their own boudoir photo shoot?
Make sure you plan your few outfits well in advance and be confident about the choices, don't overthink the idea of someone posing you/taking pics of you kind of nearly naked (because it literally doesn't phase her), hype yourself up with a badass playlist, and just know that no one can have a say about your pictures because they are for YOU because YOU love YOU!

What inspired you to pursue a Scottsdale boudoir session?
I chose to do a boudoir shoot because I had a friend who had done it and I loved how her photos came out. Then as I read into it I saw the confidence and beauty it gave the women and knew I wanted to end 2020 on a positive note.

I Googled a lot of different photographers in the Phoenix area but The Bella Jade Collection stood out because the models in the photos were real women with natural beauty versus the cookie-cutter expectations.

I've always considered myself a confident person but I hide behind the camera and don't enjoy the way I'm photographed. After this experience, it opened my eyes to how beautiful my body is and the confidence I can have wearing what I want.
Did you have any fears going into this? Were you able to overcome them?
I feared that I wouldn't vibe with my photographer or open up as much as I could, but during the photoshoot, I felt at ease and knew it was a safe place to let it all out. I do wish I would have brought some drinks or something to loosen up my nerves so I could be more fluid.
What was your favorite part about your Scottsdale boudoir experience?
My favorite part was the makeover and all the positive energy of being told I rock an outfit and that the choices I brought were fun and playful. I never felt like what I had going was too risky.
Do you have any advice for someone considering their own boudoir photo shoot?
I would say just go for it. I'm all about living in the moment and doing what you want/what makes you happy. If you think it's a good idea then do it. Don't question other people. Just go and schedule it and come into it with the confidence you have when you feel your best.

I follow a lot of women on Instagram who have had it done and seeing them as confident and sexy made me want to feel that way about myself.

I chose The Bella Jade Collection because I love the feel of her pictures. Sometimes boudoir pictures online all look like they're from the same set of filters. Christina's looked natural without the heavy filters.

I'm definitely a work in progress for my confidence. The experience showed me that no matter our size we can still look sexy as hell!
Did you have any fears going into this? Were you able to overcome them?
I was worried that I would take all these pictures and then at the end hate them all. I mean how many times have I had my husband take a picture only to hate and make sure it never saw the light of day. But when I went to see my images I loved them all! And the thing I wish I would've done differently? DO NOT SPRAY TAN! If it's a new thing or place don't experiment. I ended up with some weird lines but thank goodness for Christina!
What was your favorite part about your Scottsdale boudoir experience?
My favorite part was how much fun it was. There wasn't this pressure to feel like some sexy Victoria Secret model. We laughed, we listened to my favorite music, and made some sexy photos during!
Do you have any advice for someone considering their own boudoir photo shoot?
Do it! Everyone says that's their advice but it's so true. Buy the sexy lingerie or just wear the soft blanket and see the pictures and know it was SO worth it.

When she found out that her fiance wasn’t going to be able to make it - she shifted her mindset and decided to come in anyway for a personal shoot and make the best of it! What inspired you to pursue a boudoir session?
Originally scheduled the shoot as a couples shoot and my fiancé wasn’t available so I said “Why Not?” And made the most of it. Now I know how much fun I had I am even more excited to reschedule my couples shoot with my fiancé!
Why did you choose The Bella Jade Collection for your boudoir experience?
Because I know good shit when I see it! And one look at the website and their work. I was sold! :)
Do you consider yourself a confident person or more of a work in progress? Did this experience change the way you see yourself?
I have always been very self conscious of my body. My butts too flat, my stomach too flabby, my boobs too small. The minute I walked into my shoot I was so comfortable! If you would have ever told me I would be doing topless photos in my underwear I would have never believed it!
Did you have any fears going into this? Were you able to overcome them?
Oh of course! The simple feelings we all have “what if my fiancé doesn’t find them sexy?” “What if I look horrible?” “how do you be sexy???” But they bring it out of you! I don’t know how these girls do it! But they do!
What was your favorite part about your boudoir experience?
Ummmm every single second of it! Laughing and chatting with what felt like friends while getting my hair and make up done, laughing at how awkward I can be, feeling sexy every time Christina would yell “yaaaaassss” and I knew we got a good one!, the hours of debating between pictures because I loved them all and Christina put up with me so patiently and helping me narrow it down. I’m talking hours!
Do you have any advice for someone considering their own boudoir photo shoot?
Do it! Just do it! Don’t overthink it! Don’t second guess yourself! Just do it! You won’t regret it!
