What I love about boudoir photography is helping women realize their beauty and show them just how capable and sexy they really are.

What inspired you to pursue a boudoir session?

To learn to love and appreciate my body after a double mastectomy, multiple surgeries and complications which results in multiple scars and no reconstruction.
 

Why did you choose The Bella Jade Collection for your boudoir experience?

I reached out to several photographers and Christina actually listened to my specific situation and gave advice based on my needs.
 

Do you consider yourself a confident person or more of a work in progress? Did this experience change the way you see yourself?

Work in progress. When I saw these photos, I felt like I was able to appreciate how my husband and others see my body.
 

Did you have any fears going into this? Were you able to overcome them? Anything you wish you would have done differently?

Definitely. I was worried I wouldn’t look like myself, I wouldn’t feel comfortable, I would still feel I look disfigured. I would have played my specific music, but Christina found a good mix of music that fit me.

What was your favorite part about your boudoir experience?

Seeing the final product.
 

Do you have any advice for someone considering their own boudoir photo shoot?

 Do it! Take the chance and be amazed at what your body is capable of.

Four years ago, I was a wedding photographer, family, photographer, children photographer (you get the idea..) living in Michigan with a degree in Photography and no clear direction. While I enjoyed photography then - I never imagined this would be my life today! Or…

Are you still feeling a little nervous?

That’s, totally OK. You are doing something that may be a little outside of your comfort zone, and feeling a little nervous is normal.

For you, we’ve put together some frequently asked questions that should put your mind at ease. And get you feeling more comfortable about booking a boudoir session with us!

— Will I be sharing the studio with other ladies? —

No, our studio is located in my private residence in Gilbert, Arizona. The space is exclusive for clients of The Bella Jade Collection. Unless, you choose to book back to back sessions with a friend for support, your time slot is reserved just for you!

— Do I need to know how to pose? —

Absolutely not. Most of our clients have never done a boudoir shoot before, and do not expect you to come in with rehearsed poses. We specialize in boudoir for the every woman. Your boudoir photographer will provide you with as much photo shoot coaching and posing direction that you need to ensure that you look and feel amazing.

— Should i wait until i lose a few extra pounds? —

We certainly want you to treat your body with love and care, so if a boudoir session motivates you to work on a health or wellness goal, by all means be good to your body! But, the numbers on a scale should never be the reason you put off booking a shoot like this! A boudoir session is about getting to know yourself, celebrating your sexy, and feeling empowered to love yourself more just as you are. I am telling you with confidence, that you do not NEED to lose weight in order to look great in your boudoir photos. In fact, a lot of women have walked away from their boudoir experience with us feeling a lot better about how they see themselves. We hear all of the time that the confidence received from our boudoir sessions has had life-changing impacts on how women talk to themselves and continue on their self love journey even outside our studio.

— Will I need to bring my own outfit? —

Yes, we want you to wear something that you are comfortable in and that will make you feel sexy wearing it! We’ve found that letting you shop for your own outfits and try them on in advance is ideal for an intimate shoot like this. But if you need help with what to wear we are happy to offer some guidance. This stunning babe rocked her boudoir shoot with us at our Gilbert boudoir studio! When planning out her boudoir shoot..

we really wanted to do something outside of traditional lingerie.

Something that really would amplify her banging body and show off her more confident self. This was a big deal because even though she’d reached a new sense of self and total high in her fitness and body love journey, there were still a few areas she still had to do some inner work on.

We talked about the things she loved about her body to ensure that we highlighted those features that she was most proud of. We decided on a few unique outfits and I wanted to share this one in particular that turned out AH-MAZING on her and had her feeling incredibly fierce and empowered -

a magazine style Calvin Klein inspired look - with a little plot twist!

If you are considering a boudoir photo shoot and not sure where to start…

consider these few tips to help you feel more comfortable with planning your boudoir session.

Take note of your WHY.

Before even looking for a boudoir photographer in your area, take note of WHY you are doing this. Especially if the thought of booking a session makes you a little nervous. This will be the key to unlocking your sexiness and help you decide which photographer is best suited to help you get there.

Do your research.

Finding a photographer may be a bit tricky, but it doesn’t need to be overwhelming. Start simple. Search boudoir photographers in your area that specialize in boudoir. This is important. Some photographers offer boudoir as an afterthought and may be inexperienced. Ask yourself these questions when narrowing down your search:

Do they have a portfolio of images that inspire you and showcase women of different and body types? Are you getting the sense that they will be able to photograph you in a way that is flattering and portrays confidence? Do they have solid reviews that reaffirm everything that their website says they are going to do? Are they offering the kind of experience you desire, like being pampered with hair and make up and posing guidance? Are there any complicated fees or up charges for things that aren’t included in their packages? Do they have a dedicated studio? Do they shoot at a different place every time, and are you going to be responsible for finding that place? If their sessions take place in a hotel room, is this going to be a place of comfort for you?

Talk through what to expect.

Once you feel like you’ve found an experienced boudoir photographer and potential match. Don’t be afraid to get them on the phone before you book it. Throw out feelers and ask questions.

This can give you a good sense of what your experience with them is going to be like. If the photographer is abrasive, short, seems lacking in any department that you value, or they’re just isn’t that connection, think it over or keep looking. Remember, this is the person who is going to be photographing you in your skivvies. Do they seem like someone who can help ease your nerves or are they just going to point and click and send you on your way?

Create a secret Pinterest Board.

I always ask my clients how they hope to be photographed and we plan out the shoot together. There is no need to have it all figured out, but having some idea of what your style of boudoir might look like is a great start. A few photos (less than 10) is ideal. I like to talk through styling and wardrobe WITH my clients to ensure we are on the same page and the idea train is not headed in too many different directions. But having a mood board to share helps your photographer understand you and vice versa as you plan out your shoot. As a boudoir photographer, when I have a good feel of who you are, what rattles your nerves and what helps you feel more confident, I can guide you through choosing outfits, posing and creating your finished artwork in a way that personalized to meet your needs.

And capture photos that truly elevate your confidence and show you just how sexy you really are.

But these things my friends are insecurities that we all have. They may look different when you describe them or put them on paper but it all adds up to one truth.

At some point every woman has sat down with themselves and contemplated in the same space where you may be right now -

Looking for the courage to experience this (whatever this is) for themselves. Looking for the innate ability to decipher what is self talk and what is just plain out right self sabotage. They had to get out of their own way, stop making excuses, stop beating themselves up over the delusion that they’ll never be worthy enough to receive this.

The price to schedule your session is $300 plus Gilbert Arizona sales tax. This covers your photographers time and talent to plan, shoot, and style your boudoir photo shoot as well as having a professional hair and make up artist for your shoot right here at our private studio in Gilbert, AZ.

When do I place my print order?

Just like any other boudoir photo shoot with us, you will place your order during your post-shoot ordering appointment. We only want you to purchase what you love, so each and every client will get to view their images (edited and in print) before placing their final order. Should I bring props to my boudoir photo shoot? | Boudoir Photographer serving Phoenix, Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Arizona

It’s not a bad idea to bring a prop to your boudoir session. Subtle accessories and well thought out props can add personal touch and versatility to your boudoir photos - especially if you are planning on gifting your images in an album for your significant other!

This trick is to not go “too crazy”. Sometimes my clients get so excited looking at photos online or on Pinterest for inspiration that they land themselves in a sea of ideas with no clear direction. That’s, ok. One, because planning is part of the fun. Two, because you’re in the hands of trained professionals ;). I’m here to help bring that vision to realization and guide you in the right direction that works for you!

Today I am sharing a great example of how incorporating props into your boudoir session can be a great way to spice up your photos and your overall boudoir experience!

Miss K and I had a lot of fun with it. She chose to bring in her husbands guitar and I planned in advance some amazing poses that would work well for her vision.

Guitars are one of my favorite props because they mimic the shape of a woman’s body and can do wonders for bringing out your curves and

making you feel like a bombshell.

Its also a fun one to be photographed with because you get to rock out “literally”, let loose and have a down to earth good time.

Intimate Natural Light Photo Studio Tour | Boudoir Photography Studio serving Phoenix, Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler Area

We purchased our house knowing that we wanted to have a separate space dedicated for use as an in-home boudoir studio. We found an amazing gem located in Gilbert, AZ just minutes from downtown Gilbert, and San Tan Village Mall with just the space we were looking for. Of course, it needed a little tender loving care to meet our vision but we were up for the challenge.

We re purposed the space into a

dreamy boudoir photography studio in the comfort of home -

boasting white washed reclaimed wood floors (that were tragically hiding beneath thick carpeting), high white ceilings, two sets of french doors, sheer curtains, its own air conditioning unit (for those unruly Arizona summer days) and an abundance of soft natural light.

If you are looking to be photographed in an intimate space that feels more like home than an equipment cluttered commercial photo studio or a dark hotel room, than this location is absolutely divine.

We love the authenticity and comfort of this minimalist yet breathtakingly romantic bedroom setting

The Healing Power of Boudoir | Gilbert, Chandler, Mesa Boudoir Photography

Like many of the women I photograph Miss N reached out to me hoping to do a photo shoot that would inspire her to take the next step in her self love journey. I think we can all relate to wanting to feel better about ourselves despite our insecurities and struggles getting used to our ever changing bodies. Having a boudoir shoot is an opportunity to tap into a more confident you, by breaking a few of your own barriers and opening up to the idea that you don’t have to be skinnier, taller, or bear a certain skin color (whatever it is that’s holding you back from feeling sexy) to feel confident in who you are.

In the three years that I have spent photographing exclusively boudoir photography I have met some incredibly beautiful souls. And

- the more I photograph the more I believe and understand the healing power of boudoir.

Women in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50’s - women who are getting married, having children, celebrating decades of marriage and even those who are rediscovering themselves after divorce, miscarriages, or trauma. These are real women. Women who have suffered losses, abuse, heartache, extreme weight loss or gain. Real women.

I’ve listened to their stories and have come to realize how quickly a woman can feel stripped of her right to feel worthy and sexy.

But what Ive also seen is how powerful something like a boudoir shoot can be.

I am inspired by these women and there commitment to showing up for themselves, owning their story, and diving head first in the face of fear into an experience that has the power to facilitate healing.

I’ve witnessed the transformation and it speaks to me at my core knowing that I’ve been so honored to share that experience with them, learn from them and provide them with a sense of hope and security.

For Miss N she imagined being photographed modestly for her first boudoir session but also expressed her a desire to do something that would motivate her to worry less about satisfying others and more about her relationship with herself, her growth as a woman, and letting her story motivate others to disconnect from the mouths of unjustified hatred and negative self talk and begin seeking their true potential. It seemed only natural to create a look that would reflect her personality and her goals, by challenging her ideas of what is considered sexy, confident, and beautiful.

3 Tips to Help You Feel More Confident for Your Boudoir Shoot | Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert Top Rated Boudoir Photographer

For every self-assuring moment you are seeking to experience - there is usually something disruptive or challenging ready to derail all of the self loving, body positive vibes, you’ve got going for you.

But, what if you could grab all of that negative self talk (a.k.a bull shit) by the horns, pull it toward your face and let out a gratifying affirmation that you are strong, brave, worthy, and ready to do whatever it takes to become a better version of you.

Wouldn’t that change the way you cope with self-doubt?

People who have a strong sense of inner strength tend to handle challenging situations with more resilience. They talk back to negativity, and know that whatever IT is - they can work through one way or another and come out even stronger.

When you decide to book your very own boudoir shoot, a similar thing happens. You dance with anxiety and excitement. But it is all relative, Whether you see yourself as someone who is resilient or someone who still has a lot to learn about self-confidence - in the end we all survive.

And, never have I ever heard anyone feel bad about it.

So -

how can you tap into your own inner strength and feel more confident for your boudoir shoot?

I am going to share with you our top 3 tips to saying “I’ve got this” before and during your session.

1. Choose a Photographer you can trust.

   When you choose your photographer take a look at their recent work. Does it inspire you? Do you get pumped up and start imagining what your own boudoir shoot could be like! Do you have questions that you still need answered? Do your research before scheduling your session. Finding the right photographer or wrong photographer can make or break your session. You wouldn’t go to an All-American Burger restaurant expecting Authentic Mexican Cuisine - would you? Make sure your photographer is someone you can vibe with, you can trust to deliver, and get all of your questions answered up front. You’ll thank me later for this one!

2. Define how you want to be photographed.

   Make up a dream board. Include everything from color schemes, setting, poses, and outfits. Don’t know what to wear? Be sure to ask for advice. Every one is different. And, if there is anything I have learned from photographing so many women its that trying to be someone else is a slippery slope. Work WITH what you’ve got not against it. Decide to be you and be good at it. Your photographer should be able to help you with any trouble zones and have great suggestions on what to wear that will bring out your best features. How you feel in your outfit is so important. Wearing something that stretches you so far from your comfort zone you can barely breathe is probably not the best idea for your first boudoir shoot. Which brings me to my next point.

3. Share EVERYTHING with your photographer.

   The real expert of you - is YOU. If you have something about your body you’d rather downplay, don’t wait until mid-session to tell your photographer. Share everything upfront. For my sessions, we have a styling and wardrobe consultation before hand. This is the perfect opportunity to talk about your concerns and address them before the day of the shoot. Get it all out so that you can focus on just being yourself and having fun on the day of your shoot. Knowing that your photographer is aligned with what makes you a little self conscious and what makes you feel sexy, will only breed confidence as your being photographed!

What is a Bella Jade Brand Ambassador?

My mission is to inspire women of all shapes and sizes to feel more confident in their own skin and celebrate their sexuality in whatever way they define sexy. Thing is, I need your help to do that! As a brand ambassador for The Bella Jade Collection I ask that you represent my brand as just that — A power house and community built on empowering women and reminding them that remaining authentic and being the best version of you is ENOUGH. And that, celebrating your sexy does not mean changing who you are but re-evaluating how you see yourself! You are expected to be a person with empathy, but also someone who believes so much in the importance of self love that you allow no one to dull your sparkle.

Here’s the nitty gritty — I’m looking for three perfectly imperfect ladies that full force believe in our mission to help women feel more confident in their own skin and are ready to talk dirty to me. • Allow me to share and feature your images from your brand ambassador session online and in printed marketing materials. ( A signed model release is required for ALL brand ambassador shoots).

• Being body positive! Dig deep and get to know those you are talking to. How do they dream of being photographed. What is important to them? What are their fears? I want you to seek and refer women who would be a good fit for us. I want you to be mindful and respect everyone! Please do not exclude anyone because their story or personal needs do not align identically with yours. Most of the women that book with me prefer that their images remain private. Be sure and clear with them that the images shared on my website or through our brand ambassador program are approved images. No photos will be shared without their written consent. Treat others with compassion and understanding.

• As a brand ambassador you believe in our brand so much that you are willing to commit to promoting The Bella Jade Collection exclusively for boudoir photography.
