Miss L. had done a boudoir photo shoot with us at our previous Gilbert studio location. Naturally, I couldn’t have been more excited to have her back for a session at one of our Scottsdale studios, The Grey Room. She didn’t disappoint in bringing her magnetic energy, incredible sense of humor, and spirit for life and self love.

This time she showed up packing all that and some!

“This experience was exacty what I needed”

What inspired you to pursue a Scottsdale boudoir session?

To capture the woman I am and remind myself that I am the driver in how I see myself.

Why did you choose Bella Jade Boudoir The Bella Jade Collection for your Arizona boudoir experience?

Christina is amazing!

Do you consider yourself a confident person or more of a work in progress? Did this boudoir experience change the way you see yourself?

Through all the struggles with my body image, self-confidence/self-worth, emotional stability, giving to all and leaving nothing left for myself, I lost sight of who I am. BUT...I am back with a fierce confidence and amazing self-worth that I lost because I was conforming into somebody's version of me that fit their needs; I may have been smiling but inside I was not. I know I still have room to continue to grow but like in the Pink song, "I am here..."

Did you have any fears going into this? Were you able to overcome them?

None - this experience was exactly what I needed and what I have overcame to get here was captured in the photos.

What was your favorite part about your Scottsdale boudoir experience?

All of it - I felt empowered and worth something.

Do you have any advice for someone considering their own boudoir photo shoot?

Miss M’s Boudoir Experience at Bella Jade Boudoir in Oldtown Scottsdale, AZ in The Grey Room

This was Miss M’s very first boudoir photo shoot. Like a lot of our clients she had a little bit of fear going into this but she had wanted to do a boudoir shoot for a long time. And, for Miss M. she was hopeful that doing something like this would bring her confidence back and allow her the space she needed to appreciate where she is right now, all in.

After her boudoir session with us in our second studio, The Grey Room, we asked her to share her experience with us. She shares what it was like for her along with an insider tip for anyone planning their own boudoir session.

What inspired you to pursue a Scottsdale boudoir session?

I've always wanted to do a boudoir session since I'd learned about it. Losing weight and going through a rough break up made the timing right.

Why did you choose Bella Jade Boudoir The Bella Jade Collection for your Scottsdale boudoir experience?

The whole package. I had done some research and wanted to make sure I chose someone who offered everything from hair and makeup, to working with women, to seeing and having my final pictures in print and not just on a flash drive.

Do you consider yourself a confident person or more of a work in progress? Did this boudoir experience change the way you see yourself?

I thought I was sort of confident going in. Once there, my confidence was on edge. I thought I looked good, but I felt my body language didn't.

Then, when I got my pictures back, I cried. I couldn't believe that was me. By the way, they are sooo amazing!

Did you have any fears going into this? Were you able to overcome them?

I had a bit of fear.

I knew I was going to be wearing minimal in front of people I didn't know. The ladies made everything more comfortable.

Only thing I'd do differently is make sure I stretch more for days leading up to it, haha.

All of it. Christina and Leah made me look good and they kept me at ease and laughing.

Do it! Best thing I've ever done for myself!

Top 5 Sexy Boudoir Outfits that Conceal Your Tummy | Best Boudoir Photographer in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Gilbert, Arizona

Our bodies are always changing but one thing remains the same at Bella Jade — You are worthy of being photographed at your lowest weight, your highest weight, your ideal weight, your after baby weight, your I’m getting older and things aren’t as tight anymore weight... They are all ok! And, part of this experience is to get comfortable being uncomfortable, to be gentle with yourself, to take back your sexy, and learn to love yourself unconditionally. Sweater

Sweaters are an especially great choice if wearing lingerie is extremely outside of your comfort zone. It offers comfort, covers the belly, and can be just as sexy when paired with cheekier panties. You can show as little or as much skin as you want with this look! Its classy, flirty, and leaves just enough to the imagination to be incredibly captivating.

Lined Teddy

Similar in style to the bodysuit, so much so that the term is often used interchangeably. The teddy speaks more to what most of us think of when we hear “lingerie”. Teddies that are lined offer more support than lace bodysuits. Pro tip: If you have a larger bust I’d suggest choosing a Teddy that offers specific cup sizes to ensure that its a good fit!

High waisted panties or briefs are trendy, incredibly flattering, and much more forgiving than your typical lingerie panty. Miss D. admits she had some inhibitions going into this. She knew that she had wanted to do her very own boudoir photo shoot for a while. As a women in her 60’s in a body that looks different from medias perception of perfection it took a bit of courage to pull the trigger. And, honestly she is not alone in feeling the pressure to meet certain standards before booking a shoot like this. But for her — doing this NOW was the absolute right time!

Listen, there is no pre-requisite to learning to love yourself other than the desire to want to! As far as I am concerned, at Bella Jade, boudoir is about loving who your are in the body that you’re in right now, then

— having those images and re-visiting that feeling every time you look back on your boudoir photos!

I am so glad that Miss D refused to let her inhibitions hold her back, but rather allowed the inner critic to motivate her to be better at loving her body! She talked back, and I love that!

After her session at our main studio we asked to interview her about her Scottsdale boudoir photography experience. She said YES. She too, wanted other women to feel empowered to celebrate their bodies at any age so that they can see for themselves just how beautiful they really are. Her boudoir interview goes to show that numbers do not define us and we are ALWAYS worthy of self love.

She says

“In the days of self love, this is one of the best things you can do for yourself.”

What inspired you to pursue a Scottsdale boudoir session?

I had wanted to do it for a while and although I’m older and at my highest weight ever, I have been working on self love and wanted to see myself through different eyes.

Why did you choose Bella Jade Boudoir The Bella Jade Collection for your Arizona boudoir experience?

I had researched several boudoir companies. After reading the reviews and seeing Christina’s beautiful personality and love of her work it shine through, it was an easy decision.

Do you consider yourself a confident person or more of a work in progress? Did this boudoir experience change the way you see yourself?

I am definitely a work in progress. It did allow me to see several sides of myself that I usually do not or have not seen before.

Did you have any fears going into this? Were you able to overcome them?

I had several fears going into this experience. Media and the perception of people in todays world have created a negative view of what is the “perfect woman”. I am not perfect.

That was scary for me.

I eventually decided that I am who I am and should go into this with an open mind and just have fun. That made a difference for me.

The only thing I would have done differently would have tried to be more relaxed. Christina is so positive and it was so fun, that being more relaxed would have been a bonus.

What was your favorite part about your Scottsdale boudoir experience?

My favorite part of the boudoir experience was Christina’s energy and positive attitude. We laughed and had a really fun time. It made the experience less stressful and the time went by so fast!

Do you have any advice for someone considering their own boudoir photo shoot?

Just do it! You will not regret it! Allow yourself to have fun, meet and work with Christina who not only does an excellent job as a photographer but has an eye for making you look your best, and do something wonderful for yourself!

Would you recommend The Bella Jade Collection Bella Jade Boudoir to a friend?

Absolutely!!! In the days of self love, this is one of the best things you can do for yourself. I would encourage all women to do this!

“I had a such a great time doing my boudoir photo session! Leah did a great job with my makeup and hair and was a wonderful help with posing. Christina is a ray of sunshine. Her smile lights up the room and if you are nervous her smile and personality will immediately take that away.
I had wanted to do a session for many years but was always waiting for the “right” time. Now as a woman in my 60’s and weighing more than I ever have, having cellulite and stretch marks, it was the perfect time. My confidence has never been high but have always gotten compliments from others. As my worst critic, I didn’t see what others did. I wanted to see the beauty in myself that others saw. For this boudoir shoot we kicked the stilettoes to the side and I am so glad that we did! This was Miss J’s third shoot with us. Her first was traditional and timeless, the second a brilliant blend of edgy and ethereal.

I know well enough by now that this time around she would want to do things differently — Miss J. is not the type to be afraid to step outside of the box and get creative. It’s something I absolutely love about her. I thought why not ditch the heels and throw your converse back on! Of course she was all in! I am all in for finding creative ways to personalize your Scottsdale Boudoir Session. Since you are one of a kind your boudoir photos will be too. No two boudoir shoots will ever be the same.

Honoring her natural beauty was a MUST. This boudoir outfit allowed her to step out without compromising her true self. Here we were able to capture her true personality in her images. For that, she really got to shine in her boudoir photos and I wouldn’t want it any other way!

Miss C. had always wanted to do a boudoir shoot. Like a lot of women, the thought of doing a shoot like this was outside of her comfort zone - something that took an act of courage to finally commit and show up all in!

Her journey led her to Bella Jade Boudoir after the birth of her first baby. She expressed a desire to feel beautiful again. A desire to carve out some “me” time to acknowledge everything she has overcome leading up to this moment, her accomplishments, and embrace this current stage of her life.

For her, a boudoir shoot was something she could do for herself that would help her recognize her strengths, celebrate her wins, and reconnect with her body in a way that was reserved just for her.

After her shoot we reached out to interview her about her boudoir experience and she shared with us how she got here, her fears, what it felt like, and her own first hand advise for anyone considering doing a boudoir shoot of their own!

What inspired you to pursue a Scottsdale boudoir session?

I had always wanted to do a boudoir shoot. For years I had contemplated it, but never got the courage to actually book it. I had just given birth to my first baby, which had its trials and tribulations in itself, and I just lost over 50 pounds. I was a new mom that hadn't felt pretty in a very long time. I needed to feel confident and comfortable in my own skin again and that is what made me pursue a boudoir session.

After reviewing Bella Jade's portfolio and reading their clients' testimonials, I just fell in love with how beautiful and liberating all of these women looked and felt. That's exactly how I wanted to feel.

I am always a work in progress. Who isn't? But after working with Heidi and Christina, I felt so confident and just proud to be me. Flaws and all. Did you have any fears going into this? Were you able to overcome them?

I did. I have always been self-conscious about myself and my body, but I wanted to be proud of the hard work I had just put in within the last year with having a baby and losing so much weight. I am so glad I overcame my fear of letting others see me vulnerable. It was such a wonderful liberating experience. I wouldn't have changed a thing!

What was your favorite part about your Scottsdale boudoir experience?

Can I say I loved it all? Cause I did! I just loved being able to feel so comfortable in a normally awkward situation. It was so nice to be pampered, have your makeup done, hair done and just feel beautiful! I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Body jewelry is a great accessory for boudoir photos! While we love it, we also have found that it can be one of the more cumbersome props to pose with. So, if you plan to bring it plan ahead! And be mindful that it my take up more time than you’d think. If you’re more on the nervous side or think you’ll need a lot of posing guidance then I’d leave this one at home.

When searching “boudoir photographer near me” you’ll likely find that there are plenty of boudoir photographers in your area.

For starters, I’m super excited for you even if you’ve gotten this far. Because, for most women doing a boudoir shoot can be one of the most empowering experiences you’ll ever gift yourself! That’s right, for yourself! Let’s face it, this isn’t just a gift for him, babe — this is an investment in you, your confidence, your celebration of your feminine and everything that makes you uniquely beautiful!

And to be honest writing this blog post kind-of makes me cringe. But —

If you’re looking for a professional boudoir photographer that offers the empowering experience everyone keeps talking about, you’re likely wondering “how much does a boudoir shoot like this cost?” Knowing how much to save up and set aside for a boudoir shoot is kind of important, right? —The short answer …

the cost to do a boudoir shoot will vary from affordable to lavish. But for the most part boudoir photography is a luxury experience. The truth is, it is not unusual for a women to spend more on their boudoir photos than they did on their wedding photos. Now,

Before you get your panties in a bunch know that — there is a photographer for everyone.

And in some cases, even if you’re searching for a boudoir photographer on limited funds, it is still possible to hire a boudoir photographer you know you’ll love! I’ll share more on that at the end of this post!

“When hiring a photographer you have 3 choices —

Good.
Fast.
and Cheap.

As the saying goes, you can only pick two (and its true).

Do you want boudoir photos that are fast and cheap? Well, then they will likely not be good.

Do you want boudoir photos that are good and cheap? Well, they’ll probably not be fast.

Do you want boudoir photos that are good and fast? Well they will not be cheap.

So, how much does a boudoir photo shoot cost?

The cost of boudoir photos can range anywhere from $200 to over $3,000 with some premium photographers charging up to $10,000 or more. Let’s remember, what is considered affordable and what is considered expensive is relative. So, choosing whether or not to make this investment whether it’s $200 $3,000, or $10,000 will ultimately depend on what you value most.

For now, let’s consider a few different options you could choose for your boudoir photos — from DIY (do it yourself) boudoir at home to professional boudoir photos at a full-service boudoir studio like Bella Jade Boudoir.

Under $200

You can do it yourself at home with your phone and take your own boudoir photos for free.

Pros:
You won’t have to travel anywhere.

You have access to the photos immediately.

Cons:
You may fall short on posing ideas.

Setting up the shot with lighting and a self timer all while trying to pose on your own can be overwhelming and daunting.

They may not turn out as you’d imagined.

$200 to $500

You can find a boudoir photographer who is just starting out.

Every boudoir photographer has to start somewhere. Understand, that new does not necessarily mean bad. But, it can in some cases mean cheaper. In the beginning, many photographers like to practice and build up their portfolio prior to charging the full cost for their talent and services. Which means, you may be able to find a new boudoir photographer who is offering boudoir photo shoots at a lower price than their established and more experienced counterparts. You may also find a new photographer running what the industry refers to as “Model Calls”. A model call is when a photographer hosts photo shoots at a discounted price (could be as low as $200, sometimes no price at all) in exchange for use of your boudoir photos in their portfolio.

Pros:
It’s usually the less expensive alternative.
Can still result in photos that you like.

Cons:

Photographers just starting out are inexperienced in posing women for boudoir so you’ll likely feel more pressure to come in with your own posing ideas.

You may wait longer for your photos if this photographer is still not proficient with editing.

Some may even be inexperienced with photography in general, so you may encounter awkward moments where they are focused primarily on camera settings instead of posing you or helping you feel more comfortable.

Most new photographers do not have their own boudoir studios, so you may not know where the photoshoot will take place when you book the shoot. You may also be asked to cover the costs of a rented space.

If you participate in a model call, you will not have the option for your photos to remain private and you may also be asked to arrive with your hair and make up already professionally done (leaving you to find and hire your own hair and make up artists).

Due to the low cost, you’re not going to have access to tangible products like boudoir albums without going somewhere to have them made (requires permission from the photographer) or spending more later on.

Inexperience also leads to inconsistencies in their portfolio, therefore you are taking a gamble on whether or not your photos will be good.

$500 to $1000

You can find an established boudoir photographer that shoots high volume.

These photographers are able to keep their costs relatively affordable by keeping their own business costs low, and taking on a much higher volume of clients. In order to stay in business, it is likely that this photographer also shoots every day and multiple genres. In photography, studio owners typically wear many hats above and beyond taking photos. Therefore, shooting every day multiple times a day can lead to burn out. To avoid that and stay in business at this price point, these photographers generally only provide the bare essentials for a boudoir photoshoot. They are more likely NOT to offer things like pre-session consultations, hair and make up services, or have access to high end finished artwork options like custom boudoir albums. With a higher volume of clients, these photographers often will just deliver images in the form of a click to download online gallery.

Pros

It may cost less than a full service boudoir photographer.

Typically, the photo shoot and digital images are all included in the price.

The photoshoots are short and sweet.

Cons

You only get the bare minimum, which means you likely receive little to no guidance before your shoot on how to prepare.

They may not have their own studio — which means you might not know where the shoot will take place (sometimes may even be asked to cover the additional costs to rent one)

You may need to look elsewhere or schedule a separate appointment with an additional fee for having your hair and make up professionally done.

There’s usually no option for tangible products and gifts like albums.

Edits like removing bruises, acne, or smoothing tan lines may not be offered or may require an additional fee.

You may have to wait longer to get your photos back.

Full service can include professional hair and make up, consultations to go over what to expect, what to wear & get advise how to prepare for your shoot. In most cases, the cost for the session and the cost for the images and products are separate so that clients can choose there own package.

How much does a boudoir shoot with Bella Jade Boudoir cost?

At Bella Jade Boudoir we offer a full service premium boudoir experience for our clients and have two studios to choose from, both located in Old Town Scottsdale, Arizona. Our session fee is $400 and includes —

a consultation,
private studio location,
hair and make up pampering,
multiple outfit changes,
expert photo-shoot coaching & posing direction,
professional editing & retouching of your photos,
and a boutique ordering experience.

All digitals, prints, and products are purchased separately on the day of your ordering appointment, so only the session fee is due at booking.

With portrait packages starting at $900 we have packages to suit almost everyone. Typically most our clients invest $1400 or more on their finished artwork while some spend over $3000. It’s entirely up to you. Having the reveal and ordering appointment after your boudoir session allows you to pick your own photos and only purchase what you love. Which means, you do not need to choose or pay for your final package until you’ve already seen your images.

Can Someone on budget afford premium boudoir photography?

Yes!
